With so many options out there, choosing the right program can feel overwhelming. Especially when you get crowded out with less relevant MBA admissions or Financial Engineering admissions advice. That’s where I come in, let me help you cut through the noise and identify the path that truly aligns with your goals.
Full-Service Career Coaching
Optimize your resume, cover letter, and LinkedIn profile, execute a targeted LinkedIn + email networking strategy, learn to get the most out of the coffee chats and information interview sessions, stay on top of recruiting timelines, land interviews at top-tier firms in your chosen industry, prepare for interviews with the most accurate possible prediction of what will be asked in your interview, hone your skills with mock interviews.
Individual Services
If you are not looking for full-service, but seek specific services to fill in any gaps, I can help you with the below:
CFA coaching
I passed all three exams consecutively on the first attempt while working a grueling 60+ hour a week full-time job as a trader. Failing the CFA even once can be soul-crushing after the time and energy you committed, let me help you minimize the odds of that happening. Having gone through the CFAI, Kaplan, MM, and AnalystPrep curriculum, I likely spent far more time and effort than necessary to reach the minimum passing score. Not only will I help you pass, I will tailor the most suitable study plan for you so you can pass with the least possible time wasted.
GRE tutoring (Quant 170, Verbal 163).
I was someone who always struggled on standardized exams, started with a low baseline quant score of 148. If I can do it, I am confident most of you can too under the right guidance.
Networking strategies
Take a shot for every time you heard the words “coffee chat” and “networking”. The irony is that this advice often come from people who already have family connections or warm introductions through friends. Without prior connections, how do you conduct cold outreach exactly? What can you expect to get out of it? Some say “networking” worked wonders and that if it hasn’t worked for you yet then keep going as it is just a numbers game. Others say it is a waste of time, and that it would be more fruitful to devote your time to aim for a higher GPA. Reality is far more nuanced, there are situations where coffee chats are a make or break, and there are situations where it has near zero benefits. I have turned “coffee chats” into job interviews purely through cold outreach, but I have also wasted countless hours coffee chatting into the void for little gain. Let me help you crack open this black box to maximize every cold Linkedln dm and email you send. If I think you are the right fit, I can also refer you to my vast network of connections I built through cold outreach.
CV crafting and cover letter writing to secure internship interviews
I have personally secured interviews in top firms in Investment Banking, Consulting, Private Equity, Asset Management, Equity Research, Real Estate, Venture Capital, and Investor Relations. There is no one straightforward formula that will work for everyone. There are too many factors at play, from geography, resume, cover letter, industry, network, ethnicity, gender, languages, hobbies, and beyond. Let me help you crack open this black box so you don’t waste as much time as I did figuring this out myself.
Interview preparation & Mock Interviews
As previously mentioned, I interviewed across nearly every major area in finance. I have learned what works and what dosen’t through the cumbersome process of real trial and error. I have also paid other career coaches to prepare for interviews. Often, these coaches knew what they were doing back in the day when they were recruiting, but are now out of touch from being out of the game for too long. I also have close friends who paid exorbitant amounts to Sam Shiah’s Wall Street Mastermind program. Although this is anecdotal, I find Sam’s 92% success rate dubious as my friends must have been in worst 8%. Jokes aside, don’t fall for the career coaches that make false promises. While I can’t guarantee you get interviews because it also depends on you, I can confidently say few people in the career coaching business have as much direct recent interview experience in top firms in this many industries. I’ve also tracked the patterns behind interview questions and preparation strategies, so I will help you anticipate exactly what to expect and how to stand out, no matter which role you’re targeting.
